Hydrogen Peroxide for Iron and Sulfur

Since 2010, Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) has become our treatment solution of choice for the oxidation of iron and sulfide. Compared to a chlorinator, HP systems are far more reliable and far less harmful to the environment.

Disinfection

For disinfection we always recommend the use of ultraviolet light (UV). UV is an efficient disinfectant and is very low maintenance. UV manufacturers recommend replacing the UV bulb once per year for effectiveness.

The photos on the right shows a complete Hydrogen Peroxide system with a softener and UV light installed. All outdoor tanks are installed with protective tank jackets.

Soft Water Benefits

The addition of a water softener to any treatment strategy comes with many benefits.

  • No hard water stains

  • Extends life of water using appliances

  • Gentle on hair, skin, clothing, and linens

  • Use less soap for washing

Other Oxidizers

Another alternative to chlorination or HP is air. The Air Draw filter draws in air to oxidize iron and sulfide in the water, it then filters the contaminants with catalytic carbon. Some prefer this method for less maintenance. This can be seen as a more economical approach due to the fact of not adding any additional oxidation catalysts.
